"My first exposure to the spoken word was Taylor Mali's "What Teachers Make" video on
YouTube when I was eighteen. Which was followed by a three day immersion into slam
poetry which left my eyes in pain, my fingers soar and my mind blown. I saw my first
real-life poetry days before my twenty first birthday, which I spent getting fourth
in my first slam. I've been seriously writing for about three years, being
artistically influenced by every poet with a YouTube video: Taylor Mali, Anis Mojgani,
Rives, Andrea Gibson, George Watsky, Dahlak Brathwaite, Daniel Beaty, and so many
more. It is a thrill to compete in slams in front of people who are not stuffed
animals, and I love slowing it down to feature as well. I currently live in
Corvallis, OR and drive into Portland to slam at the Portland Poetry Slam or perform
features. If you'd like more info, to book a show, talk, take me out to dinner,
whatever, check out the contact page. I hope you enjoy my work. Keep checking back,
the site updates quite a bit. Don't forget to Write, Love, Slam (WLS) Peace be the
journey."
Thank you,
